There’s a lot that goes into video production. The equipment, the crew, the editing, the knowledge of how to bring it all together. But there’s one thing that is needed in almost every company to keep their employees sane and productive during the hours on the clock, and that’s going absolutely nuts when you’re off the clock.

And I’m not talking about getting into trouble, or doing anything against the law. I’m just talking about how we treat ourselves for a job well done, and how we make every minute valuable when we’re off on a high-stress video shoot. This past week, The SkipperFilms crew jumped on a plane to Orlando to shoot, produce, edit, and facilitate a massive undertaking. We shoot a lot of conferences, whether they are in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland area, or other hot conference destinations like Orlando or Las Vegas, and more times than not, it’s with a fun and repetitive client of ours, so we’re always inclined to go above and beyond for them! This time around, we shot 3 days worth of b-roll, aerial, and interview footage throughout a conference at the Gaylord Palms, and consisted of 2 same-day conference highlight videos, 5 same-day interview videos, and one big overall highlight video to recap the entire event. I only tell you all of that to drive home the point of why it’s important to balance the work with play.

Well one of our shooters, Alex Mangione with Alex Mangione Photography and the newest member of the SkipperFilms video crew is also an avid Vlogger, and did us the honor of documenting the trip’s downtime on his Vlog (subscribe here!). Watch it all the way through and you’ll get the rundown of how to play SkipperFilms-rules minigolf. It’s….. pretty awesome.

Before you even think it, yes, the client was thrilled with what we produced. These antics in no way hindered our ability to act and present ourselves in the utmost professional manner. In fact, if you’ve been listening, these nutty activities are possibly part of the reason we are as good as we are 😛 A proper balance between working hard and playing hard is vital!

Other notes: don’t listen to Alex. Giordano’s Chicago Deep Dish is amazing and if you don’t like it, you’re wrong. DEFINITELY listen to him when it comes to coffee. But ignore his blasphemy about pizza.
